Around the Ohio music scene, I might be known as “the girl in the wheelchair from the rockshow.” Typically recognized for making a presence at several alternative shows a week around the Cincinnati and Columbus areas. It’s obvious enjoying live music is my sole passion.
Music has always been my one constant despite all my medical hardships (I have a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy). It’s the single thing I look forward to most no matter what difficult health obstacle I’m overcoming.
However, physically “seeing” live music has always presented a challenge from my power wheelchair. From tiny makeshift GA free-for-alls or even sadly, some of the biggest arenas have rendered problematic viewing of the stages from my line of (sitting) sight. Festivals and all-day events, often more enjoyable, but prone to more issues for folks with limited mobility. Overcrowded patron traffic flow, running from stage to stage around the grounds, unpredictable weather, uneven pavement for navigation (or no pavement at all) are just some of the many hurdles that inhabit the disabled.
I’m here to help break down those accessible barriers. I want to ensure everyone has the best, safest, happiest concert experience no matter their physical capabilities.
15 years of avid concert-going & nearly 300 shows later, this fire inside for live music has only burned brighter. Now, I wish to advocate for other’s with physical disabilities so that we may have more pleasant adventures partaking in a concert or festival.
